Bangalow Theatre Company Presents

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

Early Bird Tix on Sale Now for the Tony Award Winning Production!!!

The recently formed Bangalow Theatre Company (BTC) is excited to announce the details of its first-ever major production The Drowsy Chaperone.

BTC’s adaptation of this cleverly created and cheekily hilarious musical is set to grace the stage of the historic Bangalow A&I Hall for two evening performances on Friday November 27 and Saturday November 28.

Hailed by New York Magazine as "the perfect Broadway musical", The Drowsy Chaperone, with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, has won five Tony Awards and is an affectionate parody of the American musical comedies of the jazz era.

Set amidst the backdrop of the glitz, glamour and reverie of the 1920s, this production is full to the brim with eccentric 1920s celebrities, producers, aviators and a drowsy chaperone to tie them all together.

Featuring 20 cast members of actors ranging from ages 15 to 69, BTC fulfils its promise of fostering local talent with actors in the production hailing from Bangalow, Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Lismore and Lennox Head.

“The Drowsy Chaperone is such a unique script”, confesses BTC founding member Anouska Gammon. “As soon as we read the script we were sold. This really is not your average musical, and given that BTC has a vision to produce innovative shows that create an experience for our audience beyond the traditional notions of theatre, we felt strongly that ‘Drowsy’ would help us deliver that vision. We want people to walk away with a new found love and appreciation for musical theatre,” Anouska explains.

Early Bird tickets for The Drowsy Chaperone are just $25 per person and are available now from BTC website https://bookings.bangalowtheatre.com.au. The performance commences at 7.30pm with pre-show drinks and canapés available from 6.30pm.
